The party that loves traditional morality and hates celebrities who stick their nose into politics may be on the verge of running an erection-pill-endorsing ex-football coach for U.S. Senate:

Mike Ditka won't rule out U.S. Senate run

Hall of Fame football coach Mike Ditka says he's just a regular guy but that shouldn't rule him out as a replacement Illinois U.S. Senate candidate.

The 66-year-old former head coach of the Chicago Bears appeared on television news shows to talk about a possible bid for Senate. More than 6,000 people have signed a petition for Republicans to draft Ditka as the "people's choice" for November.

"I'm getting excited about it. I'm just thinking about it," Ditka told WGN-TV, Chicago....

If this happens (in the wake of Jack "Sex Swap" Ryan's departure from the race), the jokes will be about Ditka's Levitra ads -- but what's up with the GOP and celebs? Schwarzenegger. Dennis Miller. Kelsey Grammer. And now Ditka. Celebrities bad? No, celebrities good! Four legs good, two legs bad? No, four legs good, two legs better!
